Life Before Make Believe

During my journey through life, grief and mathematics I’ve come to realize two types of math. There is C.A.P. (Consistency, Accuracy, Predictability) math and then there’s M.I.N.D. = Mathematics In Natural Design math.

C.A.P. math is an integral component of our educational system. It’s necessary for the health, safety and reliability of everything we make and use. It’s what I teach as a profession and it’s vital to world civilization.

M.I.N.D. math explores the more abstract “unpredictable determinism” of mathematics in nature. It’s my passion and it’s vital to my mental civilization. Having worked in the classroom for many years, I don’t fault the compulsory educational system for not exploring the minutia of mathematics.

It’s quite difficult getting students to practice the basics of the real number line, so there just isn’t enough time to incorporate the entire universe into the standard curriculum.

C.A.P. math has to take priority to ensure there are always enough people trained to tend to the “Machine.”

I spent many years as a linear thinking C.A.P. mathematician, refusing to lift my eyes above the man made line of logic and predictability. It seemed like the “smart” way to be. Mathematicians are certainly considered smart – masters of mathematical logic.
