Because the 5 finger system is limited to what is seen, and the natural inclination is to think that once you’re out of fingers, you’re out of chances.
So instead of mindfully sowing the infinite return of our 3 out of 5, we fret about the 2 out of 5 we don’t have. Then conspire against nature to get that portion too.
That’s is the seed of tragedy. Our life’s course shouldn’t be to mourn vestiges, but increase the growth.
The percentages thrown throughout the media are limited to the researcher’s selected data points (and cognitive biases) while the individual life is infinite.
This is not to find fault with the mathematical accuracy of data, but to understand that the data only calculates probabilities, but it does not know your real life possibilities.
