The mindset of 100 percent as one of life’s benchmarks is probably one of the most psychologically limiting ideas humans ever constructed.
That’s a Tragedy.
We’ve been taught to trust the certainty of highest percentage, but the current educational process doesn’t promote the level of skill necessary for the average person to understand what those percentages mean in the individual’s life.
In fact, percentages as we know them did not exist in days of our early conscious thoughts. Our minds were not designed to live at a percentage of life.
The first recorded use of percentages can be attributed to the Italian mathematician Luca Pacioli, who wrote about them in his 1494 book “Summa de arithmetica, geometria, proportioni et proportionalita.”
The abstraction of percentages is so misunderstood that the media tends to use the 5 finger system to describe portions. For example, 1 out of 5 = 20%, 4 out of 5 = 80%
